I am one of those people that spends a lot of time researching the products I put on my body. One thing I took to heart in my faith based upbringing was the saying, "Your body is a temple". That phrase forever changed the way I thought about what I put inside my body, as well as what I applied onto it.
Your skin is your bodies largest organ and absorbs everything you put onto it. For this reason, I prefer non-toxic, chemical free ingredients. In my effort to reduce unnecessary waste, I opt for minimal packaging and plastic free alternatives when I can. I prefer small or local businesses and try to be aware of companies and brands ethics, feeling better knowing we are like minded in our green conscious beliefs.
Being that I am only 4 years into this lifestyle, I have had a lot of trial and error with products. I have found some things that work for me and a lot that don't. For example, I no longer even attempt to make a homemade product - for me, they just don't get the job done the way I need and I am not willing to sacrifice personal hygiene or damage my skin/hair/teeth for the sake of something being homemade. I find the main area I make compromises is when it comes to purchasing products is plastic packaging. While I do always search for glass or compostable containers, they are hard to come by or I may not like the product, so I settle. It's something I am aware of and am not a fan of doing but until something changes. . . The way I make up for this is by being more intentional to refuse single use purchases such as coffee cups or plastic packaged food and what makes me feel better about this is knowing the toiletry products I do purchase last me such a long time.
I do not like spending a lot of money on products that I end up not using and like to keep my everyday regime pretty simple, so below is everything I use on a regular basis and have been very pleased with. Once I use up an essential, I evaluate if I liked it enough to repurchase or if I want to shake it up a bit, so will update this page accordingly when that time comes. Two more things I'll mention is that 1. when trying new products it's important to keep in mind that it can take your skin a week or two to adjust to anything new you are putting on your face and that what works for one person may not work for another. 2. Almost all the products I apply topically have ingredients in them that are found in food so I try to make sure I am incorporating those into my diet in addition. For example, if I am using rosehip oil for the benefits of the essential fatty acids, I want to also make sure to add EFA to my diet by eating avocados, nuts, coconut oil, etc.
Now, back to what you came for! Below is a peak into my bathroom cabinet.

I'll preface by saying I don't deodorant. I am one of those special people that only sweats when I am working out and does not have that distinct underarm BO - ever. My husband on the other hand, is not as special, so this is the deodorant he uses and is the only aluminum free AND non-toxic one that works on that musky man (and we have tried a lot). If you're a lady, they have so many lovely fragrances HERE and I wish I could need them! They also have them as a powder form in glass jars so that's fancy.
